Kaikeyi: “My beloved, look! I’ve prepared a special dish today. Taste it — isn’t it delicious?”

Dasharatha: “Ah, what is this! You’ve never served food prepared so early before.”

Kaikeyi: “Oh no, not like that. You said you are leaving for Devaloka again, didn’t you? So I thought, it should be something special today.”

Dasharatha: “If I keep talking to you, I’ll forget my duties. Alright, I must leave now.”

Kaikeyi: “I will come too. Take me along.”

Dasharatha: “You want to come? That too on such a long journey? I’m not going for leisure, Kaikeyi. Devendra has summoned only me.”

Kaikeyi: “When the husband is everything to the wife, how can there be a difference between the two? The wife is an equal partner in all her husband’s duties. She continues his purpose — that is her dharma.”

Dasharatha: “Then the husband should quietly remain silent!”

Kaikeyi: “Please, don’t say that! You have always fulfilled my wishes. Never once have you said ‘no’ to me. How can you deny me now? I too shall come.”

Dasharatha: “You never give up until you get what you want. But Kaikeyi, that is heaven — with its own laws and disciplines.”

Kaikeyi: “Those rules don’t bind you, my lord — and they won’t bind me either. I cannot stay away from you, not even for a few days. Who knows how long this war in heaven may last?

To witness heaven while still alive — how rare a blessing that is! It is the dream of all beings on earth. I have only heard descriptions of its glory, but now I have the chance to see it myself. This is a sacred opportunity.

Take me with you — there I shall rejoice and feel blessed. And above all, I will have the fortune of meeting the great Shachi Devi, the epitome of chastity. Please, take me along.”

Dasharatha: “My dearest…”

Dasharatha: “Beloved, your wish is admirable. To see heaven while still alive is indeed a blessing of great merit. Very well — get ready quickly, come with me.”

Kaikeyi: “I am already ready. Come, let’s go.”

Dasharatha: “Ah! Do women always get ready this quickly? Incredible! But remember — I must face a fierce war first. Don’t be afraid.”

Kaikeyi: “Afraid? I am a Kshatriya woman! You married me knowing my courage. Why should I fear? You, the master of warfare, are by my side!”

Dasharatha: “Truly spoken. A husband’s victory is born of his wife’s strength and devotion. Let us see if your words come true today. Together, we shall destroy the wicked, behold the splendor of heaven, and return in joy. Come — let’s depart. Matali, the divine charioteer, awaits us.”

✨ Reflections

In this vivid Talamaddale dialogue, we witness Kaikeyi not as the queen of later controversy, but as a courageous, devoted, and spirited consort — one who dares to walk beside Dasharatha into heaven itself. Her faith, valor, and affection reveal the essence of a true Kshatriya Pativrata — loyal in both war and worship.
