Treasurer

Ramananda Ganapathi Hegde, born in Hallekoppa in 1969, is the third child of the late Shri Ganapathi Hegde and the late Smt. Lalitha Hegde. Coming from a family rooted in Yakshagana—his father being a well-known Vesha artist and Mridanga player—Ramananda was naturally drawn toward the art from an early age.

He completed his primary education at Panchalinga School and high school in Hegadekatta, followed by pre-university studies in Manchikere. He later graduated from MES, during which he also completed two years of NCC training.

His formal Yakshagana journey began on June 25, 1990, at Panchalinga, where he began training under Shri Parameshwara Hegde Ainbail.

For over 34 continuous years, Ramananda has served Yakshagana with dedication and passion. Known for his versatile Veshas, he has performed extensively and contributed to the propagation of the art form through education and direction. He has trained children in various institutions including Panchalinga, Hegadekatta, Koligar, Kanchikai, Ragihosalli, Sirsi, Kademane (Vanalli), Sreeniketan School, Marikamba High School, and colleges in Shiggaon, Hillur, and more.

Ramananda is praised for his clarity in direction, insightful interpretation of Taala-Maddale, and ability to adapt long stories into concise lessons suitable for students. He has been instrumental in introducing many children to stage performance, embodying the qualities of an unbounded ocean of knowledge and passion for Yakshagana.
